(CBS Seattle) -- Seattle resident and University of Washington student Amanda Knox has been convicted of murder by an appeals court in Florence, Italy -- a charge stemming from the 2007 death of her British roommate in Perugia. Knox said in a statement Thursday she is frightened and saddened by her "unjust" conviction.
Knox, 26, was sentenced to 28 years and 6 months in prison, according to multiple reports.
